BIO
After nearly a decade in NYC, in 2017 Lori and her husband, David, relocated their family to Indianapolis, IN where they are now (respectively) Artistic Director and Executive Director of The New Harmony Project. The New Harmony Project nurture writers in the development of scripts and new works that interrogate the complexity of hope. Through artist-centered programming, NHP cares for writers so they can change the world. In 2019 they grew from 14 days to over 100 days of programming offered in New Harmony and Central Indiana. In 2021, NHP returned to in-person programming in New Harmony with a concert in July and modified conference in August.
Lori also works as a freelance director, most recently directing Molly Smith Metzler's Cry it Out at Franklin College in 2022, Gail Payne in a socially distanced backyard production of George Brant's Grounded in 2020, as well as Summit Performance Indianapolis's inaugural production of Silent Sky by Lauren Gunderson. In 2017 she directed Stuart Little at Indiana Repertory Theatre and transferred her adaptation of Drunkle Vanya off-Broadway, where it enjoyed a critically-acclaimed six-month run at Tolstoy's Lounge at the Russian Samovar in NYC.
Lori is also a co-founder of Three Day Hangover with Beth Gardiner and David Hudson, which produced seven full-length productions to great acclaim in New York, in addition to their commissioned project, Drunk Shakespeare, which has been running for four years off-Broadway and has been seen by over 100,000 people.
As an assistant director, she worked on the Tony award-winning Broadway revival of Edward Albee’s Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? and Craig Lucas’ The Lying Lesson (Atlantic Theatre Company) with Tony Award winner, Pam MacKinnon. She has also assisted Erica Schmidt, David Grindley, Carey Perloff, Anne Bogart, Warner Shook, Ted Pappas, Michael Baron, and Eric Nightengale.
Lori was the inaugural recipient of the SDCF Charles Abbott Fellowship and has worked at theatres across the country including Roundabout, MTC, Signature (NY & DC), La Jolla Playhouse, Playwrights Horizons, South Coast Repertory, American Conservatory Theater, Indiana Repertory Theatre and the O’Neill Theater Center. She is a member of Lincoln Center Theater Directors Lab, was a finalist for the 2017 National Directors Fellowship, and received a 2017 residency at SPACE on Ryder Farm. Lori is an SCD associate member, studied at the Moscow Art Theater and is a proud graduate of the University of Evansville. Go Colts!
